Big Bear Forest Fest 2010

Howdy all!
The 2010 Big Bear Forest Fest pitted Social Climber’s Party Barge up against Gold Mountain and Horsethief Trail. Jason was out with his open differential 08 Unlimited and had a total blast. Riding with was father Tom, brother David, and official Jeep dog CJ. Our group set off at 0730 for the trail head with 25 rigs in tow. The sizable group made short work of Horsethief – trading technical obstacles for scenic vistas and a more social atmosphere. The tightest spots were still large enough for the SuperDuty that followed along.

After Horsethief we did the quick 11 minute drive over to Gold Mountain – more challenging and a totally different look/feel to the trail. More trees meant more opportunity for unexpected pin stripping and shade. The obstacles there revolved around rocks and deeper ruts, testing rig capabilities and traction. Still no major breaks or mishaps!

Afterwards the group aired back up and winded it’s way back to basecamp at the ski resort. We spent the rest of the evening at the Rebel Offroad booth watching the raffle and meeting new friends. The event sponsors whipped out an RTI ramp that we had tons of fun with. Fun day – fun times, and fond memories!

Nice photos & write up, Jason. I heard you also had an outstanding RTI score as well. Wasn’t it around 900?

Jason, can you explain how the truck ended up on it’s side? the terrain around him does not look like it would cause a truck to flop on it’s side.
